Taking a flight means first getting from your home to the airport, either by car, train, or bus, then walking into the airport, where you have yet another wait to board the plane. But a new invention out of Switzerland could provide passengers a seamless travel experience, taking them from home to their destination without having to change vehicles at all.

The concept is called Clip-Air, and it can best be compared to a shipping container. Clip-Air is a capsule that can be attached to a single flying wing, which can carry multiple capsules in one flight. Clip-Air can also be used to transport cargo, expanding the possibilities for aircraft design.

Private Air Travel, Booked A La Uber

In the half year since private jet company Victor began operating in the U.S., the operation has grown to serve 40,000 customers from America and the U.K. And Victor doesn't intend to rest on its laurels anytime soon. The company has set its sights on claiming roughly a third of the $10 billion USD worldwide on-demand jet charter scheduling market.

That includes providing jet travel service to Cuba -- which, like Victor' other offerings, can be booked through an app, saving deep-pocketed customers the time and trouble of taking a day or more to get a quote from a broker or agent.

The company explains its novel approach to private jet travel this way: "[W]e are the only provider to offer an end-to-end charter booking on both web and mobile and our exceptional customer service means our members are always connected and in control. Unlike other providers, Victor is the only service to disclose transaction fees, operator and aircraft details offering customers total transparency and complete financial protection with no upfront commitments."
